St. Paul's Busende secondary school is a public mixed day school located in Matayos Sub county, Busia county, Kenya. The school started as an extension of Busende Primary school in 2006, under the stewardship of the then headmaster, Mr. Paul Okello Radier. This was through the help of the local community and the Anglican Church of Kenya, who felt the need of having a secondary school to meet the number of primary school graduates. The pioneer class had an initial enrolment of 5 students and 3 teachers. A school management committee of thirty members was set up comprising of the chairman, secretary, and treasurer to oversee the school's affairs.
By the end of 2006, the student enrolment had grown to 38 learners, depicting the need for the school to have it's own infrastructure. There w3as negotiations led by the Anglican church of kenya, the Area chief and elders for the primary school to donate land to build the secondary school. In April 2007, Busende primary school donated about 5 acres of land, which allowed for the construction of 2 classrooms and an administration block.
The school management committee initiated efforts to register the school with the ministry of education and provisional registration issued. The Teachers Service Commission posted Mr. Sikali Micheal as the first principal. The school was registered as a public mixed day secondary school on 3 july 2009 with one stream. In the same year, the first cohort of candidates sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
